I love working with the horses and seeing the great progress children make week after week.Kathleen, Volunteer
Volunteers play a very important role at AWH, and we wouldn’t be as successful as we are today without them. We have more than 300 volunteers each year from all parts of Los Angeles County, many of which return to us on a regular basis.
Something Fun for Everyone
Whether you’re a horse lover, passionate about helping children, or simply want to help us out, we’ve got you covered! Some important tasks we need your help with include:
- Sidewalking/spotting and/or horse leader
- Grooming horses and maintaining horse stalls
- General ranch work and landscaping/gardening
- Administrative/office assistance
You may volunteer at any location on any day we have lessons. In the event of inclement weather, please call the main AWH office to confirm lessons will be taught that day:
Be 12 years of age or older for general volunteer work
Attend volunteer orientation. Held every Saturday from 8:45-9 am at our Shadow Hills location.
Fill out the liability release.
Credits for Graduation
AWH provides community service credit for middle and high schools. We also provide for service learning and fieldwork credits at institutions including (but not limited to): USC School of Occupational Therapy students, UCLA Residents, CSUN, Glendale College, CBD College and College of the Canyons.
